After penetrated the bacteria the molecule is reduced by the sensitive bacteria (anaerobe). The metabolites that are created have a toxic effect on the bacteria through binding to the bacterial DNA. In general dimetronidazole is bactericidal for sensitive bacteria in concentrations equal to or a little higher than the minimum inhibiting concentration (MIC)

Dimetridazole 40 gm

Turkey and poultry

Indications:

Control infection of turkey flocks with the protozoal flagellate
Histomonas meleagridis, which causes histomoniasis (or ‘blackhead’), a
disease which has been responsible for large losses in the turkey industry.
It is also effective against coccidiosis in poultry, and has been used
in swine feed for the prevention and treatment of swine dysentery and trichonomiasis
